ORS Risk Management is part of OAMPS (UK) Ltd, itself a wholly owned subsidiary of Wesfarmers Limited (www.wesfarmers.com.au).
OAMPS UK Group provides a diverse range of specialised products to specific industries and is a market leader within its core trades. It consists of:
OAMPS (the Oil Agents Mutual Provident Society) was established in Australia in 1976 as a reaction to the conservative methods underwriters used to assess risk within the Australian Petroleum Industry. The company was founded by Australian oil distributors, with help from other insurance and financial experts and with the support of the Australian Petroleum Agents and Distribution Association (APADA).
This concept of close collaboration with industry associations led to great success, and OAMPS launched the same model in the UK in 1986, registering the company name OAMPS (UK) Ltd and seeking endorsement from the Federation of Petroleum Suppliers. OAMPS was the first - and is still the only - insurance provider in the UK specialising in oil distribution. But while this remains a core sector for OAMPS Petrochemical, the company has diversified.
OHES Environmental Consultancy was formed in 2002 to provide environmental services to OAMPS clients. Its subsidiary, ORS Risk Management, began operations in 2003 offering bespoke training and Health and Safety services.
2002 also saw the purchase of Fairmont Insurance Brokers, a specialist Lloyd's Broker providing bespoke insurance solutions for niche markets and industries. On being acquired by OAMPS, the company became OAMPS Special Risks Ltd.
OAMPS Insurance Broking, meanwhile, has expanded over the years following the acquisition of Peter Sellers in 2002, Sandown Insurance in 2004, Jacey Insurance Brokers in 2006, and Whichers Boylan James and Keith Johnson & Co in 2007.
